YOUR DATA – HAVE YOUR SAY!
For every local business and everyone who works or lives in the wider Corsham area, personal data and how you handle it, or how you or your family choose to share it, should be a hot topic. Two immediate reasons come to mind, the recent press stories about Facebook and how they profile people; and the introduction this May of GDPR, which confers new data rights on every individual.
How do you decide who to share personal information about yourself with? Are you happier to share with certain types of organisations than others? Do you care what you share online?
As part of a new local project called ‘Your Data, Your Rights’, Corsham Institute (Ci)wants your views. The first part of the project is an online survey to understand from as many people as possible who live, work or study in the greater Corsham area, which includes Colerne, Lacock, Gastard, Neston and Box, what they know, and how they feel about their personal data and the way it is used by organisations. Also, what they know about their data rights and whether they know how to use them.
Based on this feedback, Ci will then work with the Corsham community to identify and co-produce the information needed to help them understand their rights and how and when they can use them. The survey is open now until 22 April, and it should take less than 10 minutes to complete. Please click here to complete the survey.
And please, take part in the survey now to have your say!
