Town Centre/Parking Survey
The Town Council is undertaking some survey and focus group work on the town centre, parking and the public realm. We want to involve local businesses in this so if you would be interested in being part of a focus group, do get in touch with Sharon Thomas at the Town Hall (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Community Awards 2019
Our annual celebration of the people who make Corsham a better place to live is back for 2019. Do you know an unsung hero who makes a difference to our town? The Town Council would like to recognise and promote those individuals and groups who make a real contribution to the parish. They might do voluntary work, coach a sports team, be an artistic inspiration or have made a real difference to their local environment. If you would like to nominate someone, all the details and the forms are available from the Town Hall or via our website (www.corsham.gov.uk). Nominations close on Friday 1 March, and the awards will be presented at the Town Council’s Annual Meeting on Thursday 11 April, 7pm for 7.30pm.
We’re disappointed to have to report that the examination of Corsham’s Neighbourhood Plan has been delayed for several weeks due to legal technicalities which are out of our control. A recent court case elsewhere in the country has meant that many Plans have been held up while we all wait for guidance – we need to be certain the Plan is robust and not open to challenge. The problem revolves around changes in the way habitat assessments are dealt with. Habitats are especially sensitive around Corsham, primarily due to the rare and protected species of bats that live in the area. We hope that the process isn’t held up for too long and will be able to report on progress soon (www.corshamneighbourhoodplan.co.uk).
Taste of Corsham
Foodies of Corsham, put Saturday 15 June in your diaries because Taste of Corsham is back! From 10am onwards, the town centre will be the place to discover the best in local produce, discover what our town’s cafes, pubs and restaurants have to offer, and enjoy some great live music too. There’ll be stalls, tastings, talks and more. Watch out for lots more information coming soon – and if you’re interested in being a part of the day, then please contact Kirsty Gilby at the Town Hall for more details. It’s also part of Festival Fortnight, which includes the Walking Festival (7-9 June) and The Pound’s Blue Sky Festival will run over the weekend of Taste of Corsham too.
